Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup Milk, warmed
- 1 2/3 tsp Yeast — Instant/quick-rise: stir straight into the dry ingredients, no proofing needed.
- 1/3 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1/3 cup Butter, melted
- 3/4 tsp Salt
- 4 cups All-purpose flour
Filling
- 1/4 cup Butter, softened
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup Graham cracker crumbs
- 3/4 cup Chocolate chips
Topping
- 2 cups Mini marshmallows
Instructions
Dough
- Stir the yeast and sugar into the warm milk and let stand until foamy.
- Whisk in the egg and melted butter, stir in salt and flour, and knead 8 minutes until smooth.
Rise
- Cover and let rise until doubled.
Fill
- Roll into a 16x12 inch rectangle, spread with softened butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar, graham crumbs, and chocolate chips. Roll up and slice into 12 pieces.
- Arrange in a greased 9x13 pan, cover, and let rise until puffy.
Bake
- Bake at 175°C (350°F) until golden brown and fully set.
Topping
- Scatter the mini marshmallows over the hot rolls and return to the oven (or use a broiler) just until puffed and golden in spots. (Tip: Watch this constantly — marshmallow goes from pale to burnt in well under a minute under a broiler.)
Tips
- Marshmallow burned before it puffed: The broiler was too close or too hot. Move the rack down a level and check every 15–20 seconds rather than walking away — this is not a step to multitask through.
- For deeper toasting: A kitchen torch gives more control than a broiler and lets you colour the marshmallow unevenly on purpose, closer to an actual campfire s'more.
